Krypto - Shih Tzu at Pittsburgh, PA

Visiting my close friend Vikram Sai Balaji at Pittsburgh, PA for new Year. Here is a video of a cute dog he has. It belongs to the Shih Tzu breed and is named Krypto. He chases a laser light like a 'mad dog'.

Blender 2.65

There was so much excitement going on in the Blender community with the release of Blender 2.65. Checking out how cool is this, I downloaded 2.65 and did some 8 hours of modelling and 2 hours of rendering in cycles render engine.  Inspired by my diet, a broccoli makes it to my scene!
Modelled a single floret which is just a stalk at the bottom and a bulb at the top. Then modelled a sphere with particle physics and used the floret as a particle. The plate, the fork and the broccoli all use color textures. No images or UV unwrap used. A sun light and a spot light used to give a little more focus on to our subject.

Doesn't it look nice?

Happy to see Blender is getting popular by the day with the release of their animation shorts.
Watch their latest short  "Tears of Steel"

However, my personal preference over their movies is "Sintel"

A Message From His Holiness

"Many years ago, in the holy month of December, a star guided three wise men to Jerusalem," His Holiness spoke from the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City.

Pope Benedict XVI had a clear and strong voice for his age.  Strong enough for him to be audible to the last person standing in the crowd which had gathered below to have a glimpse of him. Still, it wouldn't hurt to use a microphone.
He wore a....well you know what a Pope wears.

He continued "Today, I wish the star a very Happy Birthday". The crowd roared, though not sure what he meant. It was not the 25th of December yet - Thirteen more days to go!

He then raised his right arm as the crowd roared even more.

He made a symbol with his right hand fist. Only a select few recognized what the symbol was. He held the pose for a while and screamed a word that the crowd didn't comprehend at all.  It was not German, not French, not Italian either, but it was the Tamil word.
The word that millions in south Asia scream every time the 'star' hits the silver screen.

The Pope closed his eyes, breathed in and yelled again, this time even more fiercely... "Thalaivaaa....". The crowd imitated the pose repeated in chorus.

P.S - In case, it isn't apparent...I'm just kidding!
Happy Birthday to Rajini on 12-Dec!
Take it in a lighter vein!!
